Penguasaan sintaksis bahasa Melayu kanak-kanak prasekolah

Abstract

In a research on mastery of syntax among the preschool children, a total number of 48 children were tested. The result showed that the mean length of utterance for sentences produced by the urban children were 4.85 words for statements, 4.41 words for questions, 4.18 words for exclamations and 4.19 words for imperatives. 011 the other hand, the mean length of utterance by rural children were 4.40 words for statements, 4.19 words for questions, 4. 72 words for exclamations and 4.29 words for imperatives. It was also found that most of the children were able to construct sentences with noun phrase + verb phrase and noun phrase + adjective phrase structures.
