Isu morfologi bahasa Melayu: kata dasar yang tidak boleh digandaseparakan
Abstract
Partial reduplication is part of Malay morphology for generating words. Most of the previous descriptions only account for the interaction of phonological and morphological rules in deriving the reduplicated forms, which are grammatical. However, the issue of forms which are ungrammatical and also that never exist in the language has never been adequately explored. This article aims to offer an explanation why roots that begin with a vowel and monosyllabic roots can never undergo the process of partial reduplication. The present analysis is couched in the framework of Autosegmental theory of the melodic transfer model (Clements, 1985).
