Bahasa mainan dalam bahasa Melayu: suatu analisis fonologi autosegmental
Abstract
Language game is a variety of languages that is constructed by a group of speakers by distorting and modifying the phonological structure of the ordinary language for purposes of play. Most languages in the world have their own language games which are dubbed by numerous names such as secret language, code language, speech disguise, word games, ritual language, speech play, and so on ( Bagemihl, 1996). Although the distortions and modifications are averting from the norm, the outputs are comprehensible among the speakers. This demonstrates that the distortions are performed systematically and they are rule-governed. This paper attempts to analyze and explicate the phonological behavior of the so-called syllable transposition language game, a variety of language games in Malay that has been described in Azizul ( 1995) and Ajid ( 1989). The present analysis is couched in the framework of autosegmental phonology, and the study attempts to describe the phonological rules involved in the derivations in generating the play words.
