Manifestasi nilai setia berasaskan Teori Hibrid
Abstract
A study on the meaning of a particular value is an interesting area to explore, more so with the emergent of new theory that can be applied in the semantic analysis of certain values. Therefore, this research attempts to explain the meaning of a particular value by analyzing its various usages from the Hybrid Theory (Tendahl, 2006) perspective. The value chosen for analysis is setia (its English equivalent: loyalty) and the data are gathered from newspaper sub-corpus. Every usage of setia will be analyzed based on Hybrid Theory to explain the process of domain mapping, and pragmatic-based conclusion. Preliminary fi ndings showed that setia/loyalty is not just another value (peripheral meaning no. 3), but more than that, setia/loyalty is manifested as an attribute or characteristic (core meaning) with three other peripheral meanings.
