Diplomatic Leadership in Society through Diplomacy: Analysis of Sulalatus Salatin: Sejarah Melayu

Authors of Malay masterpieces expressed various styles and extraordinary forms of diplomacy as well as conveying clear thoughts about the values, beliefs, and philosophies of society at that time. Sulalatus Salatin records the glorious story of the Malacca Malay Sultanate, and it is recognized as one of the important masterpieces of the time. The study found that Sulalatus Salatin recorded many elements of diplomacy, and the Malays were known for these qualities. However, in this age, some politicians are seen as too inexperienced to practice negotiation and diplomacy in politics or a civilized political culture. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify and analyse the diplomatic techniques in the text of Sulalatus Salatin: Sejarah Melayu which can foster diplomatic leadership in today's society. This qualitative study with the method of text analysis analyses the diplomatic technique of sending diplomatic envoys and highlight the characteristics of leaders to the community as potential leaders who can overcome a conflict based on certain circumstances.
