An Elements of Spiritual in Melayu Song Lyrics: An Analysis of Takmilah

The art of writing lyrics of a song is a special gift from Allah SWT granted to certain individuals through amazing talents and abilities. In this case, the ideas and inspiration drawn has been completely manipulated to produce works that are prestigious. The element of divinity in the lyrics of pop and rock songs is an important composition
to discuss as most lyrics with divine elements are dominated by nasyid songs.In this regard, this study examines 12 lyrics written by local and Indonesian lyricists using the library research method. This study explores the divine elements present in the lyrics of pop and rock songs by presenting seven principles of the Takmilah theory, namely the spiritual principle of “Kamal” (perfect), the principle of prophecy as a human being- “Kamil” (perfect), the principle of Islam which is “Akmal” (perfect), the principle of the art itself that is aesthetic, the principle of knowledge and literature which is “takmilah” (perfecting), the principle of artists who should improve themselves (perfecting) and the principle of the audience aiming to cultivate them towards the perfect human being.
